Based on current metrological forecasts, the AENA (Spanish national airport management agency) closed nine airports early on Saturday and six more shut from 1200 CET. The restrictions will be in place until at least 1800 CET. The following airports are affected: Bilbao, San Sebastian, Girona, Vitoria, Zaragoza, Pamplona, La Rioja, Santiago, La Coruna, Vigo, Asturias, Santander, Leon, Valladolid, Burgos and Salamanca.

Eurocontrol, the European aviation safety agency, confirmed closure or disruptions at airports in northern Portugal and parts of southern France: Bergerac, Beziers, Biarritz, Bordeaux, Carcassonne, Grenoble, La Rochelle, Limoges, Marseille, Montpellier, Nimes, Pau, Perpignan, Porto, Reus, Rodez, St Etienne (Lyon) and Toulon.
